Description
The ICOM IC-M87 ATEX is a high class business VHF portable marine radio, meaning it meets both simple and Private Business Radio (PBR) and marine applications. The radio is intrinsically safe (ATEX approval: II2G EEx iB IIA T3), meaning it can be used in hazardous environments such as oil rigs and petrol tankers, protecting against explosions and fire hazards.
The radio itself has a large LCD display and controls, meaning it is a perfect communications solution for users who wear gloves. The LCD display is backlit, meaning it is fully operational even in poor light conditions.
An additional advantage of the IC-M87 ATEX variant is a built-in scrambler, meaning communicating is a lot more secure.
Features include:
Switchable operating bands
The radio, at the touch of a button, can switch between PBR and marine channels.
Powerful output power
Boasting 5w of output power, communicating even in long distances is possible. If you do not require such a high wattage, you can turn the output power to 1-3 watts.
Submersible
Built to IPX7 standards, the radio can be submersed into 1m of water for up to 30 minutes.
Other features include: Instant access to channel 16 and call channel, TAG scanning operation, monitor button, auto scan function, power save, battery indicator, self check, key lock and up/down switches.
Supplied with: Slow battery charger, charger adapter, Li-Ion battery, antenna, belt clip and handbook.
Please note that whilst the radio is intrinsically safe (ATEX approved), the accessories compatible with the radio are not (unless stated otherwise).
